The NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) is basically an entrance exam conducted in India for candidates who desire to study any graduate medical course (MBBS), dental courses (BDS) or postgraduate course (MD/MS) in private or government medical colleges in India. NEET (Undergraduate) for BDS and MBBS courses would be organized by the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education). NEET-UG has replaced the AIPMT (All India Pre Medical Test) and all other individual MBBS exams organized by states or colleges themselves. UG (undergraduate) courses at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, Jawarharlal Institute of (PG) Postgraduate Medical Education & Research JIPMER are exempted from the NEET’s purview, as these institutes were founded under a separate laws.

NEET UGEligibility Criteria

NEET Eligibility Criteria Students should check the eligibility criteria before applying for NEET exam. The eligibility criteria for appearing NEET exam is given below: Nationality: Nationality: Candidates must be an Indian citizen. OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) candidates are also eligible to apply. J&K/AP/Telangana: Such candidates are eligible for All India 15% quota only (also eligible for admission in AFMC, Pune) on the basis of self declaration. Age Limit: Minimum Age: The minimum age limit is 17 years as on or before 31st December of the year of admission. Maximum Age: The maximum age limit is 25 years (for General and OBC candidates) and 30 years (for other categories). Qualification: Examination: Candidates should have qualified 12th or equivalent exam. Subjects: Subjects Should be Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Biotechnology with English as a compulsory subject. 10+2 appearing students are also eligible to apply. Marks Required: In the qualifying exam (PCB group), students should have obtained at least 50% marks for general, 45% marks for general-PH and 40% marks for SC/ST & OBC.

NEET Exam Pattern The exam pattern for NEET UG Exam is given below: Courses: It is held for MBBS/BDS courses. Number of Questions:  The question paper will contain total 180 multiple choice questions with single correct answer. Subjects: The paper will be asked from subjects as Physics, Chemistry, Zoology & Botany. Language: The language of question paper will be both – English or Hindi. Mode of Exam: The exam will be conducted in offline mode (pen and paper based mode). Duration: The exam duration will of 3 hours. Marking Scheme: 4 marks will be awarded for each correct response.
