The "Combined Defence Services" Examination (CDS) is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment into the Indian Military Academy, officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy. The Notification for the examination is usually released in the months of October and June, and the examinations are conducted in February and November respectively. Only unmarried graduates are eligible to sit for the exam. Successful candidates are admitted into the respective Academies after an interview conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB).

CDSE Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria: Nationality : A applicants must either be: (i) a Citizen of India, or (ii) a subject of Bhutan, or (iii) a subject of Nepal, or (iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or (v) a person of India origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Provided that a applicant belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Govt of India. CDSE Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status

CDSE Educational Qualification

i) For Indian Military Academy/Officers’ Training Academy: Degree from a recognized university or equivalent. ii) For Indian Naval Academy: Bachelor of Engineering. iii) For Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognized University with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level or Bachelor of Engineering. CDSE Application Fees

Application Fee: Candidates (excepting Female /SC/ST candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs.200/- (Rupees two hundred only) either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by Cash, State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur/State bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/State Bank of Patiala/State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card. No fee exemption is, however, available to OBC candidates and they are required to pay the full prescribed fee. Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances nor can the fee be held in reserve for any other examination or selection.

CDSE Features

The candidates will be provided admission to INA, IMA, Air Force Academy, and Officers’ Training Academy through Written Examination, Personality Test and Interview. The candidates will be placed in the order of merit on the basis of the total marks secured by them in the written examination and in the SSB tests. The final selection will be made in order of merit subject to medical fitness and suitability in all other respects and number of vacancies available.

Candidates who have applied for Combined Defence Services are able to download CDS Admit Card. It is important to note that admit card of CDS (2) 2017 will be will only be released online. It is responsibility of candidates to search for, and download hall ticket at least three weeks before exam. Enter registration ID (RID) and date of birth, or Roll Number and date of birth to download CDS Admit Card. Print and read instructions given in hall ticket. Admit card of CDS (2) 2017 will contain important details such as roll number of candidate, examination center allotted, and other information.
